House at Vaughan Bay

Goal
To create a family beach house that honored the site of a previous community church that had been destroyed by fire and the land sold to provide funding of a new and larger church.

Challenge
The site offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to utilize a beautiful site on Vaughan Bay, to create a living environment to nourish the family for years to come.

Solution
The water side of the house provided a pastoral setting for viewing the bay and surrounding landscape, creating a contemplative and ennobled environment to live in. The entry, road side, was designed to create a sense of transition from the weekly work environment to a family retreat environment.
