Steep Slope Residence

Goal
Construct a house on a steep slope where the build-able footprint is limited to approximately the first 25 feet of the site.

Challenge
Working closely with the building department, a house was designed that stays within the strict tolerances required by the City.

Solution
Because the slope was so steep, the first floor could count as an underground basement. This allowed a four-story home to be built with a roof deck and a spa overlooking the city of Seattle from the home's hillside location in West Seattle.
